Results of Enzyme Depletion

We are all aging every second of every day this is a fact nobody can deny. As I mentioned earlier we were all born with a large trust account of enzymes, The Great Enzyme Reserve, if you will. Over the days, months, and years of life we are constantly making demands on the body which gradually depletes that account. As we diminish that account we also diminish are ability to slow down the aging process, this is a direct result of reduced enzyme activity in the body.

Studies have show that young adults have a much higher enzyme reserve in their tissue versus people who are more advanced in years (nice way to say OLD). Younger people are also much more efficient in the use of available enzymes from the food they consume. Dr. James Sumner writes of a study conducted in which multiple subjects were tested for the amounts of available enzymes in people form different age groups. The conclusion was that people who are 70 years in age have less than half the enzymes of people who are 20 years in age. (6)

Another study was performed at the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, which adds more credibility to the above study. Researchers tested for the amount of the enzyme amylase, an active enzyme found in saliva used to digest carbohydrates. The testing was conducted with subjects both young and old and as I’m sure you can conclude for yourself the difference in the amount amylase was significant. The group of subjects between the ages of 21-31 had 30 times more amylase than the subject group between the ages of 69-100. (7)

With results of such studies as the ones stated above it’s no longer a mystery why older people succumb to disease much easier and more frequently then their younger counterparts.  Have you ever seen or can you remember as a youth when injuries healed magically within minutes? Those same types of injuries as we progress in years become much more debilitating. Could this be because of the constant depletion of the great enzyme reserve? Again it’s up to each individual to ponder these questions and decide what’s best, my mission is only to present the compelling evidence and ask questions.
